How to Work at Home and Eliminate Distracts

Do you work at home?

Do you work online?

Do you seem never to get work work completed?

Too many Distractions:

Here is a suggestion that I learned from somewhere........probably one of the millions of training that I have done........go purchase a cooking timer, put it on your desk, set the timer for a specific time to complete a task. Ie, posting on Facebook. Set your timer for 15 minutes and when the timer goes off you are DONE and on to the next task.

Shiny Object Syndrome:

The shiny object syndrome will make you go crazy and broke. Sure you do need to find system that will make your work easier however too many systems cause serious distractions.
Try this, set up a game plan of what you REALLY need to make your work run smooth.
If you see a system that you like do not impulse purchase it. Keep the shiny object tab open on your computer for about a week or write down the URL in a notebook. Go back to the site after a week and reevaluate.
Do not worry the system will still be there. The shiny objects are the same as the impulse purchases at the store. The stores place the super cool, high priced gadgets on end caps and near the check out counter just so the consumer will throw it in their cart. Shopping online is the same thing however you are completing this shopping experience at home.

Have a DMO:

Make out a Daily Methods of Operation Schedule for your work days.
Make out an excel spread sheet for whatever tasks you need to complete during the day and use that spreadsheet everyday.
Here is an example of my DMO.
